The guiding principle of Birthright is: “It is the right of every pregnant woman to give birth, and the right of every child to be born.”

Birthright helps any girl or woman, regardless of age, race, creed, marital, or economic status, who feels distressed by an unplanned pregnancy. They give information and referrals to help women meet legal, medical, financial, and housing needs. There is no appointment needed for a free, confidential, and reliable pregnancy test. They also provide friendship and emotional support, as well as maternity and baby clothes.

People interested in volunteering may contact Angie Breitbach @ 563-590-9064 or Susan Hughes @ 815-520-0339. We welcome new volunteers! Volunteers could answer the phone, assist women with referrals to community agencies, or do pregnancy testing depending on their comfort level. We train our volunteers, so there is no experience needed – just a loving and accepting heart, a listening ear, and a desire to help babies and moms.

For people who are unable to volunteer but would like to make a contribution, we also appreciate donations of disposable diapers, baby wipes, onesies, maternity clothes, and stamps.
